Hot steam therapy is an effective varicose vein treatment
A very new, very gentle and very efficient procedure for treating varicose veins comes from France: It involves the destruction of afflicted veins through the introduction of small amounts of very hot steam into the veins by way of a catheter.
As with radiofrequency therapy (VNUS-Closure® or RFITT® or CELON®), the walls of the veins are destroyed by the heat, while the surroundings are not damaged, and the body then automatically breaks down these veins by way of cells called phagocytes.
This means: we see no scars and no haemorrhaging on the leg undergoing vein treatment, and our patients are immediately able to work and to participate in sports.
Naturally, this procedure demands very experienced surgeons, but can also be employed very well as a supplementary therapy at a specialised vein clinic.
Our institute is internationally known to practise the most gentle of procedures for the treatment of varicose veins, combined in order to achieve the best personalised solution for each patient so that they are, as far as possible, immediately able to return to normal life, without any interruption and without having to wear any compression bandages or compression stockings. Here, we use the "SVS" method primarily as a supplementary method employed together with the radiofrequency catheter procedure (VNUS-Closure®) or with endoscopy and the spider vein laser, and with microfoam sclerotherapy.
Through our combination of vein treatments – which is unique in this form – we are able to obtain excellent results, as seen from both a medical and an aesthetic perspective, and can allow practically all of our patients to work again the day after their extensive but nevertheless gentle vein treatment.
