Preparing for your vein treatment

Our patients who suffer from venous diseases come from all over Europe and also from overseas, a reason for which we are naturally interested in providing them with an optimal, tightly arranged examination, vein treatment and follow-up therapy, in the form of a scheduled block.

For this, it is necessary that you please bring along the following current treatment results from your family physician:

• a resting ECG
• a blood count with coagulation investigations
• a physical check-up (also including, for example, auscultation of the heart and lungs, etc.), as is commonly performed prior to surgery or whenever receiving anaesthesia

Please ensure that the test results are not more than 3 weeks old.

Likewise, you should please bring along a thigh-high compression stocking (compression class II) for each leg that is to be treated, which you must wear on the day of your vein treatment or on the following day (as a rule, however, for a total of only 24 - 72 hours!).

The actual appointment is made up of visits on two to three subsequent days:

• Day 1: Comprehensive examination with the aid of colour-coded Duplex sonography, performed in our institute by the director Dr. Netzer himself or an apropriately trained and highly-experienced colleague (as an exception)
• Day 2: Stationary or out-patient treatment in the therapeutic centre, i.e. one of the two affiliated clinics: Iatros-Klinik (www.iatros-klinik.de) or Decker-Clinic (www.clinic-dr-decker.de), exclusively by the director of the institute, Dr. Florian Netzer, together with accordingly qualified specialists for anaesthesia (who also supervise and take care of the patient continuously during the vein treatment while he/she is undergoing local anaesthesia)
• Day 3: Follow-up examination with the aid of colour-coded Duplex sonography and a control of the minute incisions performed in the institute or one of the clinics by Dr. Netzer or an experienced colleague.

In this way, our foreign patients can very comfortably complete their entire vein treatment and investigation during a single trip.
